New FINA Technical Water Polo Committee

New FINA Technical Water Polo Committee governance structure was elected at the FINA World Championships in Budapest last week.

Manuel IBERN of Spain was elected the Chair and Mark KOGANOV of New York (Representing LEN) was elected Vice Chair.

Looks like only one woman on this committee? Maybe a few more--some of the names I can't tell--but it's definitely not many.

Monica Brochero of Argentina was on the TWPC for years. She hasn't been on it for about 8 years, but she is now back. She is, in fact, the only woman. Historically, Ms. Brochero has not been an adequate "voice" for the womens game- Argentina has zero representation in the womens game, so she is powerless.

The stronger womens nations (ESP, AUS, USA, AUS, CAN) need to step up and provide equal, strong representation for the womens game. Fortunately, Koganov and Ibern come from countries where the womens game is strong (Spain and the US), so will be able to provide some much needed, realistic input into the womens game.
