Career of the Week

Postby LABertocci » Fri Apr 18, 2008 7:29 pm

This weekend, Richard Hunker, PhD, finishes his coaching career. The list of his accomplishments are too numerous to mention.

Bravo Doc !

Actually, Doc is coaching probably the last game of his life tomorrow.

After a 40 year career maintaining a program against the worst possible odds, Doc has decided that it is doubtful that he will ever coach another game after tomorrows Slippery Rock game at the CWPA Western Divisionals.

In Doc's words "After the love I had for the Slppery Rock Program and all my players, I would find it very difficult to coach another team."

Those of you who played for him and supported him are what has sustained him for 40 years.

What a wonderful accomplishment. No matter how the game comes out, Doc you go out as a WINNER, in all of our minds.

Best wishes Doc.

Your efforts permeate to the benefit of the sport, not matter what idiocy transpires at SRU.

In the end, Doc was not able to coach the final 3 games that Slippery Rock ever played.

In the end, Doc received the now famous "banned" status from the CWPA Board of Directors and coaches.

Since the CWPA made it clear that they do not like the message board, we will put the entire story in a few articles.

"Some people have greatness thrust upon them. Few have excellence thrust upon them. . . . They achieve it. They do not achieve it unwittingly by doing what comes naturally and they don't stumble into it in the course of amusing themselves. All excellence involves discipline and tenacity of purpose."

Thanks for doing achieveing excellence Doc. If I had had been a gal, I would love to have had you as a coach. Congratulations and thank you for all you have and will continue to do.

Best wishes!
