LMU is one lucky team.

Oneeye:

Why do you consider LMU lucky?

Arizona did defeat LMU at the Triton Tournament; so I placed them at #8 with Arizona at #6, followed by Hawaii at #7. I think Hawaii might be a soft #6 in the WPP Poll, but this will all shake out at the upcoming UCI Tournament. The UCI Tournament should have a lot of great games to watch since so many teams seem evenly matched.

Arizona beat LMU quite badly at the triton tournament, yet LMU is ranked above them. If that's not luck, I don't know what is.

More like a flawed poll. Let's see what the next CWPA poll shows...

Hey Gang,

It is easy to criticize from the bleachers but not so easy to criticize if you’re in the pool playing. Instead of taking pot shots at those who do the ranking why don’t you do something positive and join the committee who does the WPP rankings. All you have to do is use the email or private message button on one of Trevor's postings and he will be only too happy to place you on the committee that does the WPP rankings. Thanks!

Just to let you know, I had ...

6. Hawaii
7. ASU
8. LMU

... due to ASU beating LMU last weekend. LMU does have 2 wins over UCSD and SJS while ASU lost to UCSD, so other pollsters must have had LMU over ASU in their inputs somehow to offset the two WPP rankings' inputs mentioned here and above. As someone said, UCI tourney later this month is always a good, large gathering of 16 teams that continues to sort things out. First place to see both USC and Stanford at same site too, as USC skipped the Stanford tourney.

We all do our best ... some are better than others

I thought the purpose of posting the WWP Alternative Poll is to generate discussion for fun, and to solicit opinions from the water polo community? I know my opinions are just that, and they are not intended at all to be critical of Marko or the committee helping prepare the poll. I am glad we are at least generating some discussion since we have a lot of good teams to watch this year, and I expect to witness a lot of competitive games. We have already had a lot of one or two goal games, and some overtime games at the Triton Tournament. I expect to see the same at the UCI tournament.

Not very Blissful,

You said, “… generate discussion for fun.” For whose fun – yours because it is certainly not fun for the people who do the rankings for free!
